In Canada, our fiber supply originates from mixed forests of spruce,
balsam fir and jack pine. Black spruce is an exceptional species
with long wood fibers that produce both high quality lumber and very
strong paper. In the U.S., the main species utilized is
loblolly pine. This species has a high growth rate and produces
lumber ideal for treated wood. It is also well suited for
manufacturing newsprint.
In addition to timber management, we are dedicated to maintaining and
enhancing other uses of the forest – from recreation to
conservation. More than 15% of the areas we manage are designated
to help achieve forest management objectives other than harvesting.
