Bowater’s Catawba Operation, located on the Catawba River, is one of the largest coated mechanical paper mills in the world.  The facility was established in 1957.

Bowater's Catawba Operation was recently named one of the 10 Best North American Plants by IndustryWeek Magazine.

Bluebird Nesting Program:
From 1950 to 1975, the U.S. bluebird population plummeted by as much as 90%. To help increase the dwindling population, Bowater started the Bluebird Nesting Program in 1976. Since that time, our Catawba Operation has distributed more than 4,000 bluebird nesting boxes in 15 states.
